Bridgeport is a city located southeast of Fairfield County, Connecticut on Long Island Sound southwest of New Haven. The city is considered to be part of the greater New York metropolitan area.

As the largest city in Connecticut, Bridgeport combines the rich history of a powerful industrial center with a stunning diversity of people and their cultures. Long a chief industrial city in Connecticut, it makes electrical appliances, transportation equipment, clothing, ammunition, metal products, wiring devices, machinery, helicopters, motor vehicles, and building materials. It was known as the "Arsenal of Democracy" during World War II for her strong manufacturing base.

Bridgeport is known within Connecticut as the "Park City" because of its spectacular public parks including Seaside Park and Beardsley Park, both designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, of Central Park fame. Strategically located between New York and Boston, it's easy to get there by car (I-95, Routes 15, 25, and 8, train (MetroNorth and Amtrak), air, bus, or ferry.

Barnum's Circus Museum, the Hands-On Discovery Museum and Planetarium, the Beardsley Zoo (Connecticut's only zoo), Captain's Cove Seaport, the Greater Bridgeport Symphony, the Housatonic Museum of Art, the Downtown Cabaret Theatre, the Klein Memorial, and the Playhouse on the Green.
