Info for Georgetown Limousine Services
Georgetown is a census-designated place located in Fairfield County, Connecticut. It is about 13.4 miles from Bridgeport and 15.0 miles from Stamford. The town is actually part of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and town residents vote for selectmen and town boards of Ridgefield. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 1,650. Through the 90's Georgetown's population has declined by about 3%.
Early records have Georgetown settled by Benjamin and Isaac Rumsey, one of whom lived in a house that stood in the old orchard east of Aaron Osborne's, and the other near the site of the present homestead of Mr. S. M. Main (On Main Street).
From the early days of settlement until about 60 or 70 years ago, the people living in rural communities were, to a great extent, independent of the outside world; the farms and little shops and mills producing almost everything used in the homes of their day.
